House of Knowledge
The House of Knowledge used to be exactly that – a storehouse of vast amounts of knowledge. It was the city’s greatest temple of Oghma, the god of knowledge. When the Spellplague hit, thought, things changed for the House of Knowledge. Borther Anthus, a follower of Oghma, did research on the Spellplague and the Chasm, and that research caused the Lord Protector to start housing those affected by the Spellplague at the House of Knowledge.
Brother Anthus died in mysterious circumstances, and the remaining clergy of Oghma – along with a young woman known at the time only as the Prophet – moved themselves, as well as their treatment of the Spellplague-touched, to the fortress town of Helm’s Hold. As they left, they sealed the House of Knowledge behind them, taking much of their knowledge with them. Now it stands empty, though people still avoid it – rumor is that there’s a crazed loremaster still locked inside, making the remaining knowledge too dangerous to acquire.
